Langstroth Hive: There’s a lot going on in the box! This way of keeping bees has been used by humans for well over 100 years. It may look quite on the outside… but inside there are 8-10 frames of magic.

Honey: You always leave the bees at least half of the honey or else they will have difficulty making it through the winter because they need their honey stores.

Nectar: This provides energy for bees.
This is pre-honey. Bees ingest flower nectar, it goes into their stomachs, it’s regurgitated and dehydrated, then put into the comb. Once it’s sufficiently dehydrated, a thin layer of wax is place on top to seal it shut and then it is considered to be finished honey.

Pollen: This provides protein and other nutrients for bees. Pollen is made into “Bee Bread” by bees and placed around the developing bee-babies called “larva”.

Pollination: Bees spread pollen from one plant to another by a process called pollination.
